What is a Mass Air Flow Sensor?
Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensors are used on significant numbers of the newer vehicles to measure the volume of air entering the engine.
The MAF sensor is crucial to the fuel systems operation because it is the sensor that the engine computer uses to measure how much air is entering the engine so that it may correctly deliver the necessary amount of fuel. There are two basic types of MAF sensors: hot wire or hot plate and they are located in the air intake stream or duct between the air filter and the throttle body.
